10 Ways to Witness to Your Gay Neighbor

1. Get to know them as a person. Who they sleep with is not who they are. They are a person with interests, hurts, and history. Find out who they are. Invest in a relationship and earn the right to speak into their life.
2. Do something nice and helpful for them. SHOW God’s love. They need to know you care before they’ll care what you have to share. (1 John 3:16-18)
3. Be a good role model. Live your faith.
4. Keep in mind that while you may not struggle with their sin, you struggle with your own and it is all sin in God’s eyes. Humility will open many doors. (Eph. 4:2)
5. Ask questions as opposed to making statements.
6. Don’t say dumb things like “You’re choosing to be gay” or “God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve”. That is not helpful and you will lose credibility with them. (Prov. 18:2)
7. Don’t argue with them. No one was ever argued into God’s family or brought home that way either. People are loved into his Kingdom and prodigals are loved home. Sometimes love is tough, and it’s always honest, but without love it’s a clanging cymbal. (1 Cor. 13:1)
8. Don’t use Scripture as a weapon. Many of them may know the Bible better than you and most have had Bible verses hurled at them their entire lives.
9. Your best witnessing tool is your story. Share how Jesus has changed your life and helped you overcome.
10. Get educated about this issue, learn, read other’s stories. You can find resources at:
